Its' getting on for nearly 6 years since I wrote this site, so much has changed. I laughed quite loudly when I read my view of life 4-5 years ago. University is a distant memory and D&B a even longer one. Stil, life has moved on but I don't think I'll quite forget those 2-3 years of fun I had up at Cribbs. A little older and a little wiser, I'm happily settled down, living in Portishead with my current partner. Yes, I'll have a pipe and slippers before I know it.

Dave and Busters UK was more than just a job, it was a way of life at the time. So many friends, so many nights of fun in and out of work. Sadly these days it seems not many people are still around, those who lived locally I still see, but so many have finished uni or just moved on.

This site had its day along time ago, maybe it should have been taken down a few years ago, but really it doesn't cost anything to host (i work in the internet/IT industry.. probably as a result of originally creating this site - funny how things work out isn't it?!) and the memories/pictures must surely raise a smile to those who visit the site from time to time.

Sadly this site will always be remembered for the focus on it around the death of Shirley. I know she's probably up there looking down on us all. RIP Shirley, they say the good ones die young.. the rest of us were robbed when you left this world, I'll never forget you.

Anyone wants to catch up, drop us a email - tom@daveandbusters.co.uk

Love to you all peeps.

Nice webpage Tom,
Stick me down to receive your newsletters, especially if it means
it will lead to drinking a shit load more vodka.

Kev F(Kitchen Manager)

Nice one. I've visited the website and it looks rather nice. If you can get hold of everyones e-mail address, the amount of photo's we could all pool would be worth putting into a categorised gallery. I've got some good ones myself.

Sam B (Bar Staff)

G'DAY MATES!
We are both sorry to hear that good old D&B has closed it's doors to the thousands of adoring customers and employees. If we weren't stuck sunbaking in my pool in Queenlsand then we would certainly have joined in on the PARTIES! Laura will be back in six weeks, so look out for her! And just to let you all know I went to Greece and then back to London to become the Retail Supervisor of Hard Rock Cafe! See D&B put me on the road to success! Have fun everyone and keep up the great work!

Nice to see that the memory ov D&B lives on!!!!! We were a great bunch ov piss heads!!!!!!! Especially TECH JAMES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!.
Nice site could do with more pictures though, but who am I to slag it?
I think that I should have an award for most times employed, I worked there 5 times!! and they still wanted me back!! ( I hope)
I think that there should be a small tribute to our friend Sammy Mogger who passed away after one of D&B's Staff parties, I'm sure everyone still thinks of him.
well cant think of much more to say apart from hello all that know us and hope to hear from you all soon

Matt(Service Support and Winners) and Marcus (Waitstaff)

Congratulations and Jubilations to Pablo and Danni..about bloody time!

Tania L (Wait Staff)

My wife and I went to D&B the first 3 nights it opened it became a important part of our social life it was a easy trip from chepstow, and staff became friends as we travel to the USA a lot, to us D&B was like having a little America on our doorstep

I miss the bar most but my midway card went gold sept 98 - we went to D&B as often as we could and had the last two nights there.

I need buffalo wings!

Tony OC - (Guest)

Nice one Tom. Site looks amazing only just found out it exists. Glad to see everyone is keeping up with each other, and still getting pissed at every available oportunity.
Keep in touch and let us know when the next reunion is happening.
Keep it up.

Hayley (Winners) & Dallas (Winners and Bar)

hi tom, hope your well, and congratulations on the web site which i'm sure still brings in staff and guests to re-live memories of such a big part of everyones lives.
Well this time i thought u would write a few words of my own for your web site. i often open up the web page to see the latest on what people are doing. I think its great that you are the core in keeping people from so long ago connected.
When i left D&B i worked training for one of those counrty pub / restaurants which was crap, then joined Pizza hut as trainee agm for bristol. After a while of doing this i left because of long restaurant hours and just needed something completely different, hence i am now working for a private pest control firm covering Bristol. You may see me as i do some pubs and restaurants in briz;- revolution, havana, que passa etc..). Look out for the Eagle van !
The main part of my life is my 3 3/4 year old boy named Finley, who takes up most of my life (me and partner separated). Hes great . . .just wish i could have taken him to D&B, he would have loved it.

ps . . you dont still have any of those sweets from the store cupboard, i know the count was down when we finished and i eaten all the ones i knicked!
cheers

Andy Austin (Waitstaff & MIT) July 2006

Stumbling onto this website has made my day.  I'd forgotten all about it.
Nice site and full of memories and isn't everyone young in those pictures, or maybe we're all just old now.  I had the pleasure of working with Shirley at D & B and also at the Avon Gorge Hotel when i was a manager there..she is still sorely missed.  We lost two too many people during D & B's time.

The D & B legacy lives on in all of us as long as we remember it and the people.

As for me, i've spent the years since D & B working as the Manager of Bristol University Student Union to the Manager of the Hatchet and after finally getting too pissed off with the hours and shite pay I got into trouble shooting for Bars and Restaurants.  From Newquay, London and back to Bristol I've now got a cushy desk job telling other people what to do and charging idiots who think they can run a bar/restaurant or train a bartender to show them how to do it properly.

Once again, this site has made my day.

One of the black sheep of the D & B family.

Rob (Captain) - Dec 2006

Hello Tom,

I found your website on a google search and the reason behind the search was that I was moving cards to my new wallet and came across a Dave and Busters Power Card.

I'd bought it for use at the Shirley place when I was living there and used to visit with my now ex-gf all the time.  It was a great place for us to go, she was under 21 and I was over 25 (dirty old man) and we loved the place.  It's no use now but I'm surprised to find that I have been carrying the card for so long.

Anyway it bought back a lot of happy memories and I even found a print out from winning the ticket things from the skill machines (not very decriptive I know), wonder if I can still claim my ruler or pencil.

Just wanted to comment that I enjoyed the site and learning what happened to D&B as a whole as well as the Shirley store.

I'm a terrible pack rat and don't know if I can throw the card away now.

Regards
